Hi Cupcake

Instead of a large cake, cupcakes are more popular than ever.  Cupcakes seem to be on every other food TV show.  Gold Events now has a custom designed table to display 500 cupcakes!  A great addition to any event, cupcakes are a fun dessert to compliment your catered meal.

The Event Planner

In Linkedin a colleague asked if you were to describe your business in a poem, what would it say?  So, I decided to share it. Let me know what you think?

Event planning and decor is my game, Bonnie Gold is my name.
Bar/Bat-Mitzvahs, weddings and more, have I got amazing ideas galore!
Need entertaining, a DJ, a band, how about balloons, caterers or a hot dog stand?
Don't want to worry about your event, we will take care and you'll be content.
When linens are needed, and dishes are rented, and maybe your event is outside and tented.
We'll be there to make sure it all turns out right, with placecards, and favors and even the lights.
If your guest count is high, and you need to cut back, we'll make it work, but your day will not lack.
Call Gold Events for your special day , we will make it all happen and this is what I have to say:
"It's your event and we want it to be right, so let us be there and we will do it just right!"

OFF to the It's your Party Expo !

Today was the 2nd of 3 Expos we were a part of. This one was in Sharon, MA at Temple Israel.
This is how the day started:
It was 6:30 am, with the light in the bathroom going out, going on, then out! Great no electricity, and I needed to shower and dry my hair. Now usually I would start to think this was a bad omen of things to come, but now that I think of it, I didn't really think of it! My husband got some flashlights, I showered with a shower cap, got dressed, ate something that didn't need to be heated and brushed my teeth. Then silly things happend, I decided that since it was so cold out I needed a hat, and becasue I was going to be greeting people, I didn't want the hat to flatten my hair. So I decided that I should put some hairspray on . I run upstairs in my coat and scarf, reach over for the spray ( which I very rarely use) and I started to spray, but it didn't smell right. The sun was just coming in enough through the shades to see I was spraying OFF onto my hair! Yup, OFF!! Okay, it's 5 degrees outside, I have to wash this out of my hair over the sink, and I can't use the hairdryer! So, I take my coat and scarf off, get the shampoo, put my head under the faucet and wash, towel dry the best I can, put my coat on, not the scarf (it smells like OFF still) and I go downstairs ready to go out into the freezing weather and... The lights come back on! Yes! I run back up and dry my hair, and then we leave.
   This is how it ended:
No bad things happened , it was a good show. The people running it were very nice and helpful, they were working hard to make everyone happy. We met a lot of nice people and we will definately do it again next year.
We picked up a pizza on the way home, fed the dog, and watched the Jets LOSE!!! to the Steelers. YES!!!!( We all know it should have been the Patriots playing this game)
So the moral of my story is... even though the day starts out a little "OFF", it can still have a happy ending!
Enoy the last week of January, stay warm and call us if your having a party!!!

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Expo at Temple Sinai

With the car loaded with linens, a backdrop, centerpieces, a cocktail table that lights up, business cards and more, we set out early in the morning and headed to Marblehead, MA. Most of the drive was highway, until we came to the ocean and drove for awhile along the shoreline. Ahh, Beautiful!

We were excited to go to a new area, meet new vendors, exchange ideas, and sell us some parties!!!!

The Temple is lovely, and is next door to a JCC. We were there nice and early and met Robin the coordinator of the event. She showed us our space and we set up. Our neighbors were, photographers, DJ's, balloon artists, tattoo artists, caterers, other event planners, etc...

Everyone had set up wonderful booths, we went around and introduced ourselves. Made a flip book. This is a relatively new idea, it is fun. I will be showing my clients how much fun they can add to their parties with this new item! We knew two of the vendors, so it was nice to catch up!

The show was set to start at 11:00 am. Everyone was getting ready, our computer was set on the slide show I prepared, and the cocktail table was turned on the setting that changes colors, Cool!

I pour the candy into my bowl and got ready............................

Well, needless to say it wasn't a very busy show, but I think it was a nice show, coordinated well, set up nicely, plenty of great vendors to network with.

Why wasn't it busy? Not sure, maybe it was too nice out. If you hear of these shows, you should go. They are FREE, have tons of great ideas, and special services. Weather you are a vendor yourself, or having an event, it is well worth the time. Gold Events thanks Robin and her committee at Temple Sinai in Marblehead, MA for their hospitality, and making us feel welcome!

A walk down memory lane

It was a beautiful day to revisit the wedding site! With the trees ablaze with color, the memories came flooding back! The bride and groom were wed on the bank of Lake Adams in Exeter, RI, on Columbus Day weekend.   The guests were treated to hot, spiced apple cider as they arrived.  The sun was setting on the water as they said their I do's and then were whisked away for photos on the beautiful camp setting by the water.

Enter Shaub Lodge to long tables with ivory on ivory striped linens, and copper sheer ribbon wrapped napkins. Centerpiecs were tall vases of branches with bittersweet and hanging candles, votives lined the table, surrounded by bittersweet, moss and river rocks.

There was a delicious array of cheeses and a Mediterranean table of goodies. The dinner was beautifully displayed buffet style, with so many choices the guests had to go back to try everything!

The speeches were sentimental, my eyes were not dry, the groom sang to the bride a borrowed tune with his own words, the guests were asked to come up and strut their stuff with the bride and groom for their first dance! The DJ supplied the non stop music and fun!

The end of the night came too soon, but wait... it's not over yet! The wedding favors were boxed somore's  with long sticks and the overnight guests stayed for the camp fire with song!
